FCCLA

Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) is a dynamic and effective national student organization that helps young men and women become leaders and address important personal, family, work and societal issues through Family and Consumer Sciences Education as determined by the state department of education. FCCLA has over 150,000 members and more than 5,300 chapters from 48 state associations, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands. The organization has involved more than 10 million people since its founding in 1945.

FCCLA: The Ultimate Leadership Experience is unique among youth organizations because its programs are planned and run by members. It is the only career and technical in-school student organization with family as its central focus. Participation in national programs and chapter activities helps members become strong leaders in their families, careers and communities.

The Bayfield FCCLA chapter has made Community Service our primary focus for the 19/20 school year.  We have painted faces during Homecoming.  We had a cookie decorating table at the Halloween festival. This year, we had our first annual crafts day at Evening's porch and made wreaths for the residents there. As a region, we created a more unified team of FCCLA members with a day of team building and put-put at Serious Texas BBQ in Durango. Members from Bayfield, Ignacio, Cortez and Mancos were there. We will continue to serve the community as the year progresses with many more activities.

Family, Career and Community Leaders of America

FCCLA works to promote personal growth and leadership development through Family and Consumer Sciences education.

Focusing on multiple roles of family members, wage earner and community leader, members develop skills for life through character development, creative and critical thinking, interpersonal communications, practical knowledge, and career preparation.
