On Monday, August 11, Bayfield School District will host special orientation days for students entering 6th grade at Bayfield Middle School and 9th grade at Bayfield High School. These events are designed to help students transition smoothly into their new schools by meeting teachers, learning class routines, and getting familiar with the campus before the full student body returns.
Bayfield Middle School – 6th Grade Day
6th Grade Day provides students moving up from Bayfield Intermediate School with an opportunity to explore their new environment, build connections, and prepare for a successful middle school experience.
Schedule:
- 8:00–8:20: Welcome pep rally
- 8:20–8:50: Advisory (lesson from counseling team)
- 8:55–11:20: Rotate through all six periods to meet teachers, review class expectations, and discuss materials and supplies
- 11:20–11:40: Lunch (supervised by admin/counseling)
- 11:40–12:00: Outdoor recess (supervised by 7th/8th grade teachers)
Bayfield High School – 9th Grade Day
Freshman Orientation Day at Bayfield High School gives incoming 9th graders a head start on navigating high school life, meeting staff, and connecting with peers.
Schedule:
- 7:45–8:15: Welcome Assembly
- 8:19–11:27: Students rotate through all seven periods and an academy session to meet teachers and learn course expectations
- 11:27–12:00: Lunch
- 12:00: Dismissal
"These orientation days are designed to create a positive and welcoming environment for students moving into a new phase of their education," said Bayfield School District Superintendent Dylan Connell. "By giving them this time to connect with their teachers and new schools before the year starts, we're aiming to set them up for success."
