Throughout the day, talented 7th and 8th grade band, orchestra, and choir students from Bayfield Middle School (BMS) and their counterparts from Bayfield High School (BHS) traveled to Bayfield Intermediate School (BIS) and Bayfield Primary School (BPS) to perform for younger students. The goal was to showcase the excitement of music and encourage participation in band, orchestra, and choir as students progress through their education.
A total of ten ensembles performed, featuring a wide variety of musical styles and arrangements. Groups included:
- BHS Choir
- BHS/BMS Combined Choir
- BHS Jazz Band
- BHS Concert Band
- BHS Orchestra
- BMS Choir
- BMS Orchestra
- BMS Band
- BMS Symphony Orchestra
- BHS Marching Band
Students performed for more than five hours — from 8:15 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and filled the classrooms and halls with music and excitement. The students were led by their respective music directors: Derek Smith (BHS), Eric Stramel (BMS & BHS), and Rachel Phelps (BMS), who worked tirelessly to prepare their students for the special day.
Music Tour Day served as an inspiring reminder of the power of music education and the role it plays in fostering creativity, discipline, and teamwork. By sharing their talents with younger students, BMS and BHS musicians helped cultivate a love for music that they hope will continue to grow in Bayfield schools for years to come.
