Concert Choir

Grade Level: 9 - 12

Intended as the introductory Vocal class at BHS, students in Concert Choir will experience a variety of singing styles and music from many places and times.  This course covers singing fundamentals and performance techniques, including reading music and voice development.   Sight-singing, part singing, solo singing, vocal pedagogy, and performance are included in this standards-based course.  This choir may perform at many concerts throughout the year, including festivals, honor choirs, and local concerts. All performances are required attendance.  Concert Choir is a full year course.

Advanced Choir - Into The West

Grade Level: 10 - 12                                        Prerequisite: Concert Choir, Audition/Director Approval

The flagship Vocal group in Bayfield Schools, Advanced Choir is intended to help students continue to develop their skills to the highest level and act as the district’s musical ambassadors to the community.  Students continue to learn in a variety of singing styles, with focus on historical as well as popular and audience-oriented selections.  Students develop musical show performance skills, which may occasionally include choreography and dance, but the primary focus is on superior vocal technique. Senior students are expected to audition for All-State Honor Choir, and will learn the advanced vocal techniques required for that group, well beyond the basic curriculum.  The group may have a very demanding performance schedule, as the group is popular in the community.  Advanced Choir may supplement the membership of Concert Choir in performances.  All performances are required attendance.  Advanced Choir is a full year course.
